Police in Port Moresby have arrested ten suspects over the death of a 20 year old man and the attempted murder of another victim.

Among the arrests were four security guards from Fix Security Firm, four shop assistants and two Chinese expatriates from Cash and Carry Shopping Center at Gerehu’s Rainbow Estate.

The victims are 20-year-old Titus Aisa and 23-year-old Abel Tasman. Aisa has succumbed to the injuries and died while admitted at the Port Moresby General Hospital.

According to a police report, it was alleged that the ten physically assaulted Aisa and Tasman on the 16th of June, 2026 between 1pm to 2pm at the Cash and Carry shopping centre for allegedly stealing a K12 Maggie cube roll.

Police say both men worked for the Private Security Firm, Fix Security. They were on day-shift duties  at the Cash and Carry shopping Centre.

It is alleged that Aisa and Tasman conspired and stole the Maggie Cube roll to sell for busfare. Both had planned to pick up Aisa’s bank card at Waigani but didn’t have busfare.

According to the Police,  Tasman picked up a roll of Maggie cube at a cost of K12 and put it in his pocket and walked out when he was caught whilst in full security uniform by one of the Chinese man. Despite admitting the offense and handing back the item,  he was allegedly assaulted by the Chinese.

Police said, he was then taken to a warehouse at the back of the shop where security guards and shop assistants teamed up with the Chinese man and continued to physically assault him.

Aisa was dragged into the assault when the shop’s CCTV footage showed both men together when Tasman committed the offense. Apart from punching and kicking the men, it is alleged that the suspects used a PVC pipe and steel rod to hit the two young men.

A Fix Security Respond Team was alerted and upon arrival continued to physically assault the two before transporting them to their base at Badili.

The assault allegedly continued at the base before ordering the two young men to lay flat on their tummy on hot concrete out in the sun and waited for the owner of Fix Security to decide what to do.

Police say the Security Owner told the guards to take them to the Police Station. Before transporting them to the station, the other guards searched the two and removed a K5 from Abel Tasman’s pocket and their boots.

The guards then tied their legs with ropes and told them to hop to the vehicle, where they were transported to Badili Police Station.

They arrived at the Police Station car park and told Aisa and Tasman to hop into the Police Station where they were locked up by Police.

While in the cell, 20-year-old Titus Aisa started vomiting blood. His colleague, Abel Tasman quickly called out to the duty Policeman at the counter.

The Police Officer attended to them and saw that Aisa’s condition was critical so he called the St. John Ambulance.

St John Ambulance rushed both men to the Port Moresby General Hospital, where they were admitted. Unfortunately, after two days at the hospital, 20-year-old Titus Aisa passed on.

The matter was then reported to the Police, where they intervened following statements from Tasman. The ten suspects were all charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

The Fix Security Vehicle that transported the victims to their base at Badili was also confiscated by Police.

Meanwhile, the ten suspects are locked up awaiting their court hearing.
