A clean public space does more than just improve the scenery; it fosters civic pride, protects local coastal environments, and ensures that shared areas remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for families, visitors, and residents alike. Maintaining these public spaces requires active community effort, turning routine community care into a powerful way to strengthen local bonds and preserve natural assets.
Putting that principle into practice, the Kina Bank Wewak Branch team, joined by their family members, recently brought this community spirit to life by leading a clean-up initiative along the Wewak Beach Seawall.
The clean-up exercise covered the area from the Mobil Junction seawall through to the frontage of the Guard Dog base, with participants dedicating their Saturday morning to helping keep one of Wewak’s most visited public spaces clean and welcoming.
The clean-up initiative reflects Kina Bank’s commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates and promoting environmental responsibility.
Wewak Branch Manager Anna Wosley said the initiative was a meaningful way for the branch team to give back to the community.
“At Kina Bank, we recognise that being part of a community means contributing beyond our day-to-day roles. The Wewak beachfront is a place enjoyed by families, visitors and residents alike, and we wanted to do our part in helping keep it clean and enjoyable for everyone,” Wosley said.
She added that the clean-up not only contributed to a cleaner environment, but also strengthened connections among team members and reinforced the Bank’s commitment to community engagement.
